A mailpiece has hit into Hansford County and reportedly the rest of District 87 funded by an Austin political action committee called Texans for Fiscal Responsibility PAC.
The mailer boldy states that “Cindi Bulla claims to be a Conservative” so “Why does she donate to Democrats”. It features a photoshopped photo of Cindi with Democrat Congressman Mark Veasey of Fort Worth and ties Bulla to Veasey and Nancy Pelosi’s policies.
We’ve analyzed Cindi Bulla’s donations to Federal candidates in the chart at the end of this article.
Bulla did in fact give a $500 donation to Mark Veasey in 2018. And at a candidate forum in Stratford last night, Bulla told the crowd that she donated to the Texas Democrat because of on his support for legislation to preserve the 1031 land exchange agreements. 1031 exchange agreements are tax breaks that allow a landowner to sell property held for business and swap in for a new purchase and avoid capital gains tax on the sale. 1031 agreements are often used by farmers and other landowners as a tool to avoid burdensome taxation on property sales.
Minus that $500 donation which Bulla connects to that specific situation, in contrast to the dishonest mailer, our research shows that Bulla has given over $20,000 in federal donations to Republican Candidates and causes.
Furthermore, if we do a deep dive into the organization sending this mailer, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility PAC, we learn that this PAC is a spin off of the Austin based Empower Texans PAC (now dissolved) that worked in past elections to spread misinformation in an effort to defeat Kel Seliger and Ken King. They share donors with the newly formed Texans for a Conservative Majority, which is affiliated with West Texas billionaires Tim Dunn and Farris Wilkes and Defend Liberty Texas PAC, to which Alex Fairly has donated more than $100,000.
These Austin PACs with great names are notorious for spreading misinformation about candidates and manipulating voters around election time. Their efforts are coordinated by a small group of consultants Austin, who make a lot of money from attacks on our friends and neighbors and they have zero interest in the Panhandle or our values.
We are getting reports from all over the state in Rural Districts where these groups are sending mailers filled with misinformation about our Republican Rural candidates. Our neighbors in Ken King’s district have gotten this mailer, accusing King of siding with Democrats to increase his own pension and ties him also to Nancy Pelosi. The Texas Voice published at FACT CHECK on this claim and yet these groups still publish these dishonest mailers to our voters.
It’s all very confusing, right? We’re closely following these races and the money and we’ll do our best to keep you informed with what we find. Be sure to subscribe and share our posts. We don’t need Austin’s input into who we elect to the Texas House. In HD 87 we have four great candidates running and on traveling around the district making their case to the voters. We are smart enough to decide for ourselves who we want to represent us. And we don’t need dirty, dishonest politics, billionaire funded PAC or ugly, deceitful mailers in the Texas Panhandle.
Great journalism!! Thanks for digging deep for truth!
